Tierney Sutton Band

During its 15 years together, the Tierney Sutton Band has received two Grammy nominations for “Best Vocal Jazz Album,” a JazzWeek Award for “Vocalist of the Year” and consecutive nominations for Jazz Journalist Association Awards. The band has also headlined at Carnegie hall, The Hollywood Bowl and Jazz at Lincoln Center, appeared at many of the world’s most premier jazz festivals and recorded eight albums. The latest album, Desire (2009), was hailed by Jazz Weekly as “possibly the strongest release yet from this band.” The band is led by singer Tierney Sutton, a semifinalist in the Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocal Competition in 1998. Her 2004 Telarc release Dancing in the Dark debuted in the Billboard jazz top ten and remained for over 15 weeks. Sutton is joined by Christian Jacob (piano), Ray Brinker (drums) and Kevin Axt (bass).
