Robert Hurst Quartet
7:15–8:45PM, Absopure Waterfront Stage

In a relatively short time, Bob Hurst has been able to accomplish what few artists achieve in a career. The celebrated bassist and composer has won four Emmy Awards, five Grammy Awards, performed on several gold records and received Top 10 and five-star recognition around the globe. His resume includes associations with a long list of jazz luminaries: Charles Lloyd, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, Harry Connick Jr., Terence Blanchard, Tony Williams, Nicholas Payton, Pharaoh Sanders, Mulgrew Miller, Diana Krall and many others. An accomplished leader, Hurst’s debut album, Robert Hurst Presents (1993), reached #13 on the Billboard Top Jazz Albums chart. Recent releases include Unrehurst, Volume 1 (2002) and Family Album, Volume 1 (2007), “a sophisticated jazz and multi-cultural vocal and instrumental collection of childhood melodies.” Hurst’s formidable quartet features Karriem Riggins (drums), Mulgrew Miller (piano) and Bennie Maupin (woodwinds).
