2010 Artist in Residence Mulgrew Miller makes his second appearance of the weekend in this set with the William Paterson University Jazz Ensemble. Since 2006, Miller has served as the director of the Jazz Studies Program at William Paterson, continuing the institution’s progression of world-class performer/educators that has included legendary trumpeter and composer/arranger Thad Jones (1973-1980), renowned bassist Rufus Reid (1980-1999), and the late internationally acclaimed pianist James Williams (1999-2004). The William Paterson Jazz Studies Program is among the most respected programs in the country, with a proud reputation for emphasis on small-group playing, improvisation and a genuine commitment to the jazz tradition. The ensemble consists of Caleb Curtis (alto saxophone), Nathan Giroux (tenor saxophone) Harrison Young (vocals), Julia Brav (piano), Nicolas Indalecio (guitar), Bill Thoman (bass) and Anthony Benson (drums).
