Poogie Bell Band
4:45–6:00PM, Chase Main Stage

While the name may be unfamiliar to some, drummer, composer, arranger and record producer Poogie Bell has made an indelible mark on the music scene. You’ve heard his work on some of the world’s finest jazz, funk, neo-soul, R&B and hip-hop records, including works by Chaka Khan, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Roberta Flack, Erykah Badu, John Scofield, Angelique Kidjo, Al Jarreau, Stanley Turrentine and others. He has also toured with Afrika Bambaata and the Soulsonic Force and the Force M.D,'s. "Touch and Go," a song he wrote for the Force M.D.'s, earned him the ASCAP “Writer's Award for Top 10 Singles” in 1998. While continuing to tour and record with others, Poogie is now leading his own project, the Poogie Bell Band, which can be heard on their latest recording, Get on the Kit (2006). The Poogie Bell Band features Victor Bailey (bass), Alex Bugnon (keyboards) and Vincent Henry (guitar/horns).
