The Chris Canas Band

Singer, songwriter, cornet player and lead guitarist Chris Canas began his love affair with music as a toddler when his mother took him to his first jazz and blues festival in downtown Detroit. He returns to the scene of his musical awakening on Labor Day Weekend as leader of the Chris Canas Band. Canas, a self-proclaimed soldier for the blues, has put together a stellar lineup of veteran musicians who deliver a well-balanced set of classic covers and funky, smooth originals that is sure to keep the audience jumping. The band has played to standing-room-only audiences in clubs throughout the Detroit area, including The Attic, Fifth Avenue and the 411 Club. The band features Canas on guitar, Angie Cottingham (percussion and vocals), Shane Rasmussen (keyboards and vocals), Kevin Schoepke (bass) and Mickey Coleman (drums).
