JULY 23 Celebrating Southwest

The Detroit Jazz Festival All-Stars featuring youth artists Steffi Roche, the 2015 Detroit Jazz Festival Youth Diva winner, and Jeffrey Trent, a Detroit Jazz Festival Jazz Infusion alum, will be among a range of performers at this Celebrating Southwest concert sponsored by Ford.

Youth Celebration at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center, Detroit. Event runs 2-6 p.m., with All-Stars performing 3:35-4:35 p.m. Free and open to the public.

The 2016 Detroit Jazz Festival Ron Carter National Bass Competition is judged based on artistic excellence, originality, creativity and more. At this event, three finalists will be battling for the chance to play at this year's Detroit Jazz Festival.

Roberta Gambarini, a vocalist from Torino, Italy, who has been named the "Female Jazz Singer of the Year" by the Jazz Journalists Association twice, will be in town showcasing her vocal stylings.

Young men and women (aged 18 and younger) from the Detroit region will take the stage to compete to be named the 2016 Detroit Jazz Festival Detroit Youth Vocalists, and secure a performance spot at this year's Festival.
