Jam Sessions in the Volt Lounge at the RenCen Marriott, every night after the last festival performance!
  
The center stage at the Detroit Jazz Festival won’t be the only place to enjoy jazz tunes for free on Labor Day weekend. Many of the same big names performing at the Festival this year will be playing in jam sessions at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center throughout the weekend.
  
Friday night starting at 10:30 p.m. attendees will have the opportunity to watch the Detroit All-Star Open Jam – a new session that the Detroit Jazz Festival is introducing this year– featuring:

  • Rob Pipho
  • Dwight Adams
  • Gary Schunk
  • Rodney Whitaker
  • Nate Winn
  • George “Sax” Benson
The jam sessions will continue Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 p.m.There will be two musicians leading two different jam sessions each night. The leaders will select their own group of musicians to join them in their jams.
  
Saturday:
  • 10:30 p.m.-1 a.m..: Jerry BergonziQuintet and the Rick Margitza Quartet
Sunday:
  • 10:30 p.m.-1 a.m.: Arturo O’Farrill Quartet and the Brian Lynch Quartet
